We sold our house in Lexington in June, and have been so blessed to be able to live at my Mom's house while looking for a new home in Jessamine County. After months of searching, we found our forever home and closed on September 15. It's spacious, with a huge yard, in a fantastic school district, a block away from a park (with playground, basketball courts, soccer fields, walking trail and pavilion), and mere minutes away from both sets of grandparents... not to mention aunts, uncles and cousins!
We were able to get a good deal on the house because it's a fixer upper, and have been BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE to have a wonderful and supportive family who have put in ALOT of time and hard work helping us do the renovating! A few Evely work days have gone a LONG way to making this house habitable!

This area was built as an addition to the house. The door with the green frame leads to this area from the kitchen (which was originally the back door to the house that led into the back yard)
The door on the left next to the unfinished dry wall now leads outside onto the deck/yard

Basement:
Everyone gathered that weekend after we closed and got a jump start on renovations! First order of business was repairing the deck which had unsafely inadequate supports, missing railings, and rotting steps... it looks so good now, and has been a highlight on the days with nice weather!
All the trees, brush and landscaping was overgrown and taking over sidewalks in addition to just looking trashy. Chad trimmed up a bunch of the worst of it, and made our front yard jungles look like actual normal trees and bushes again.
Not only did Jason make short work of tearing up the nasty laminate flooring, he also chiseled out the bricks that kept this wall from being drywalled, tore out a quasi-closet and helped place the new drywall.
Kari's awesome drywalling skills have turned this room into a whole new place! It's just beautiful now! That nasty ductwork AND brick wall/boarded window are all hidden, and all that remains to be seen are beautifully crafted walls and corners. love. it.

This room. We call it the "bad wallpaper room." Well, both this room and the previous room had nasty wallpaper on it. Jill and my Mom worked countless hours removing all this hideous wallpaper! This room was the most tenacious though, and took many days and the grandma's both spent countless hours scraping while I was at work! It's finally ready to transform from this weird blue color that was under the wallpaper into a freshly painted room! Huzzah!

Olivia's room:
Bailey and Kari took out the worn out, bowed shelving in the closet.
Molly came over to paint just about EVERY room of the house while I was working, and also many evenings after bed time! SO many trips to the house and coats of paint! She's a painting queen!! Just can't thank her enough for all the help!!!!

There was a half wall by the entry way, and we took Kari's suggestion to knock it down to make the room feel bigger. And it does!!! Dusty had an enthusiastic little helper on demolition day!
Then Kari patched it up with dry wall, and her and Jason have taped/mudded, and it's like there was never a wall there at all!!
Master Bedroom:
The closet. It was decent sized, but after a lot of consideration, we decided to expand it into a walk in closet. The guest room next to this one was a giant bedroom about the same size as the master. So we knocked out the wall in between and made the guest room smaller, and our master closet muuuch bigger.

The new wall still needs some mudding/painting, but it's usable for clothes now!! woohoo!!!
The kitchen:
Look at all those cabinet doors gone. Bailey took them all off and removed the hinges for me so I could give all of it a fresh coat (or 4) of paint! They were covered with a thick layer of grime, so took quite a bit of cleaning first... then 2 primer coats, 2 top coats. The frames are all finished and ready to load up with all our kitchen belongings, and the doors will follow..... when they get done :)
Chad also came over several evenings after bed time to help us with electrical work. He installed 2 new outlets in the kitchen, making that cabinet section on the right MUCH more functional! AND an outlet in the garage for our deep freezer! There was a nice little platform out there but nowhere to plug in, so we REALLY appreciate being able to keep the freezer out there!
He also installed closet lights in baby brother's room and the guest room - and the guest room also required quite a bit of repair to the wiring that was present... it just wasn't done correctly...
So the carpets were installed on a Friday, and we moved in that Saturday, November 4th!! Once again everyone came together and made short work of the whole process, emptying out our rented storage unit, and we slept our first nights in our forever home.
